Akorn Appoints Corp. Development SVP

Rob Monahan has been appointed senior vice president of corporate development, Akorn, Inc.
 
Mr. Monahan joins the company from Walgreens Boots Alliance, where he most recently served as vice president of mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Walgreens, Mr. Monahan was a key member of the M&A departments at other publicly traded companies including Option Care, Inc. and Omnicare, Inc. Earlier in his career, he held positions in healthcare financial advisory with increasing responsibilities at Deloitte and Lehman Brothers.
 
Raj Rai, Akorn’s chief executive officer, said, “Rob has a proven track record in business development having spearheaded the acquisitions of multiple targets in the healthcare arena.  We are glad to have Rob on board as we continue to advance our strategy of expanding our capabilities in the areas of human generics in alternate dosage forms, animal health generics, over-the-counter brands, and branded ophthalmics.”
